We have been spending a good deal of time house hunting of late. It has been, well, an interesting, exciting, and very stressful experience! This will be our first home purchase. We didn't qualify for a huge amount and are confined to a specific loan which has limited our choices greatly. However, the thought of giving up our rental status and finally owning our property has left us feeling very grateful. It is what it is- a starter home!
Let me give you the highs and lows...I'll start with the lows:
This charming house came complete with a brick fireplace and BBQ- IN THE LIVING ROOM! Does anyone else think this is a bad idea?
In the same house was some lovely artwork. We didn't take all the pictures of their creativity, but let it suffice to say that the children learned a little bit about Satan worshipping and Darwinism. Good times.
Now, the highlights:
We have looked up and down the Central Coast- pretty much anywhere James is willing to commute. As much as we would love to stay in our current area, there has been slim pickings in our price range. We have found a community we really like up in North County called Heritage Ranch. It is a gated community with several cool amenities such as pools, parks, horse trails, beautiful mountain views, tennis courts, basketball courts, and a marina that leads down to Nacimiento Lake. We made our first offer on this darling 3 +2 on a quaint culdesac. We were outbid, but our disappointment did not last too long.

These next few pix are of the house we are currently thinking of buying. James was in charge of the pictures, so I have to say they are lacking- not even a picture of the front! At any rate, it is a 2 + 2, but has a loft that we could use as a bedroom, a cute yard, and is in a very nice neighborhood. It is also in Heritage Ranch.

The Loft- soon to be a bedroom of some sort. We found some great spiral staircase kits so we can get rid of the scary ladder attached to the wall. That's just a disaster waiting to happen with two adventurous boys in the house!
Kitchen: Needs a little paint and eventually some new counter tops, but overall a nice size.
This house has some nice decorative elements too.
We are going to decide by the end of this week if we want to try our luck at this one- we'll keep you posted!

this house is awesome. Great potential for fixing up but you have to admit, it beats renting and you will have your own peace and quiet! Hate to have you leave but boy, ya gotta do what ya gotta do! good luck!
I'm not happy about you guys moving away, but very excited for you. Heritage Ranch is a beautiful area!
Way to throw my pictures under the bus!!! I still think they are pretty great...with or without the front. ;)
