Happy Birthday, Ben-Ben!!
Our gorgeous Benjamin turned 7! His birthday fell on a Sunday so we celebrated as a family the next day. He wanted to go to the park for his birthday to try out his new skateboard, BBQ, and play. We headed to Solvang to the Hans Christian Andersen Park. They have a fairly new skate park, a big playground, BBQs, and lots of room to run around!
We had a great time there until James had to bust some punk kids for dealing drugs right in front of the boys at the skate park! We got to see his cop skills in action. That was...educational. :) We then bought some ice cream and headed to another neat park in Solvang that looks like a big wooden castle. The kids played there for awhile and then we stopped at our favorite burrito joint in Los Olivos before heading home. It was a long, but very fun day! The baby adores being outside and even without a nap was a complete angel. The boys were exhausted too. I think the three of them were in bed and asleep by 7pm!
Benjamin, we love you. You make us laugh every day. You are funny and bright. We are so happy that we are able to spend so much time with you and that we have many more years of celebrations ahead!
The skateboards were a little intimidating so they mostly played with their scooters at the skate park. Still, they were pretty brave! Brad, especially, bailed a few times and came home with cement burns up both arms but he still kept at it! It helped that there were older boys there showing off. It's always a competition with boys!

We surprised Ben on the way to the park by picking up some homemade Angry Birds cake pops- they were super yummy!
