Our Community Garden

And, the after pictures!!

We recently began efforts to create a community garden. By recently, I mean today. Some wonderful friends of ours from church, the Hurst family, have graciously offered to allow us to use some of their land to plant a garden. We are doing this with the Hursts and the Peery family. This is our first time planting anything and we are very excited about it. There is something so theraputic and wonderful about gardening. Even James said he felt like a pioneer today out in the beautiful sunshine, using his hands. We worked for several hours to clear out the weeds today. Everyone pitched in (with a few complaints, but overall it was fun). Savanna was awesome. The boys, well, they were on gopher duty. By gopher duty, I mean they went around for several hours pretending to find gophers and viciously kill them with gardening tools. Bradley even did a great impression of what a dying gopher would sound like. :) The next phase will be killing off the remaining weeds and then it will be time to till! After that we plan on planting a variety of fruits and veggies. Our list is somewhat ambitious, but we are hopeful, despite the gophers, that it will turn out great! We'll keep you all posted!

What a wonderful BIG project you've adopted. I have a long list of things to do in our garden. Want to come over and help! ;)

(BTW: I found this small dark text on the dark background tough to read. Thought you might want to know for future page design/font style.)
