Our next stop was at Cove Fort. We happened to stumble upon this fort, and didn't know at the time that it was affiliated with the church (although we were in Utah, so it wasn't a big surprise!). This fort was set up by Brigham Young to protect travelers in this region from the Indians. It was run by the church for close to 20 years, and then shut down after the settlers had made peace with the Indians and no longer needed this fort for protection. Now the church uses this site to teach people about the fort and that time in history, and also to share the gospel. It is currently run by a wonderful group of senior missionaries. We stayed at this fort for close to 2 hours- there was quite a lot to do and see.
