After we moved in all our stuff on the night of January 7th, I spent the 8th cleaning the apartment, and then had to head out early to Heather's baby shower on the 9th down in Simi Valley. It was a beautiful shower, and baby Gabriella received some wonderful gifts. We can't wait to meet her in February!
On the way to the shower we received a call that my Mom was in the hospital with heart troubles. We left Heather's shower and headed to Olive View to check on her. She is home now, and is doing a little better, thankfully.
The rest of the week was spent slowly unpacking, trying to figure out some window treatments, and visiting with James' Mom who came for a visit to see our new house. She brought Christmas gifts for the kids and birthday gifts for Brad. It was presents, presents, presents everywhere!
We celebrated Bradley's birthday on Friday since his birthday falls on a Sunday this year. We had an outing planned but James and Ben were still not well, so we ended up bringing home burgers from our favorite burger joint and Bradley picked movies for us to watch (The Spiderwick Chronicles and Despicable Me). James actually has the day off on Sunday so he can go to church with Bradley on his birthday. Brad is giving a talk in primary and then he wants to come home and eat Eggs Benedict and strawberry shortcake. I found an awesome raw vegan strawberry shortcake recipe. I'll let you know how it turns out!
The boys got a Star Wars sound book!
Bradley's birthday gift was a table top air hockey game for our game room (aka our garage!).
Emma loves her grandma!
Our new drapes!
The house is coming along...slowly, but surely.
No couch yet...we have a friend who is giving us a love seat until we can save up for the sectional I'm hoping for.
Still working on a dining room table. The small one in the back has a leaf we can put in, but we are missing the chairs...I eventually want James to make a built-in booth and pantry along that back wall. Won't that look nice? :)
It's very weird for James and I to not have everything in order already. We normally move-in and work til we drop. I think with the stress of buying the home and all the work we had to do last week (plus a new baby), we are just tired. We've decided to take it one box at a time and not worry about it. If it takes us 6 months to fully unpack, big deal. Everything is out in the garage, so it isn't taking up extra space. It will get done...eventually!
