Savanna is "officially" a Young Woman

Girls 12-18 in our church have the opportunity to join a wonderful and inspired Young Women program. Here they are surrounded by youth their ages and are given the opportunity to serve, play, learn, and grow in the gospel. They also have the opportunity to complete the Personal Progress Program, which is a goal-setting program designed by the church to help these young women develop strong testimonies of Jesus Christ that they can rely on for the rest of their lives. I am so excited for Savanna! She already has made great friends and is so excited to get started. Her first activity is this Wednesday night. They will be making fleece blankets for a local hospital.

Young Women Theme

The Young Women theme helps each young woman understand her identity, purpose, and destiny as a daughter of God. Young women and their leaders repeat the theme during Sunday opening exercises and at other Young Women gatherings.

"We are daughters of our Heavenly Father, who loves us, and we love Him. We will "stand as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places" (Mosiah 18:9) as we strive to live the Young Women values, which are: Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Good Works, Integrity, and Virtue.We believe as we come to accept and act upon these values, we will be prepared to strengthen home and family, make and keep sacred covenants, receive the ordinances of the temple, and enjoy the blessings of exaltation."

(Wouldn't the world be a better place if everyone learned to apply these principles as young adult!?! I know many adults (and James babysits many) who haven't figured most of these out yet!

Young Women Motto & Logo

Also associated with the Young Women program are a motto and logo. The Young Women motto is “Stand for Truth and Righteousness.”

The Young Women logo is a torch surrounded by the Young Women motto. The torch represents the light of Christ, inviting all to “come unto Christ” (Moroni 10:32). It invites all young women to hold up the light of Christ by keeping His commandments.
