We Officially Live With a Teenager!

Savanna turned 13 this week! We officially have lost our minds. We have a teenager and a newborn...what were we thinking?!? :) We celebrated Savanna's birthday on Thursday in Solvang. We went to this great restaurant, The Red Viking. They have a killer smorgasbord (You can't beat all-you-can-eat with our crew- we can eat a LOT- and since Savanna wasn't turning 13 until the next day, we got one last meal at the kid's price!).

The family who owned the place was very sweet and surprised Savanna with a complimentary fudge cake and song!

The boys then headed off to geocache for the afternoon while Savanna, Emma, and I hit Shelbi Ranch, an awesome clothing and fabric store. They have $2 - $10 brand new dresses, $2 shirts and scarves, and a whole bunch of sewing fabric and accessories for $1 per yard! They are usually only open Fri- Sun, but the owner happened to be in town on Thursday so they let us come in. We had the whole place to ourselves- it was so cool! We spent many hours there and loaded up the stroller with all of Savanna's birthday goodies. Above is one of the dresses we bought for $4.95!!

It's one of those places where you have to "dig" a little, but it is very worth it.

There are no sales associates. You measure and cut your own fabric. It's all on the honor system. We talked to the owner and he gets all of this stuff basically for free, so whatever profit they make here on the weekends they donate to Shriners hospital for sick children. Amazing.

Savanna ended up getting 3 dresses, 2 skirts, 2 shirts, 3 scarves, 10 zippers, a handful of pins and flowers, and about 10 yards of fabric, elastic, and lace for $45!! Can't beat that.

Emma slept through the whole thing in her Moby wrap- love this sling! After our shopping, the boys picked us up, we ate some ice cream, and headed home.

The next day was Savanna's real birthday. She got to sleep-in and lounge about the house most of the morning. We then went to Target to spend one of her gift cards. She bought 2 pairs of shoes, a pair of pants, and some really cute sunglasses. We then headed home, had dinner, and watched re-runs of "The Office." It was a really fun couple of days. She will be having a movie night party with her girlfriends at the clubhouse next Friday night. Then no more birthdays until James' big 3-0 celebration in December!

Happy Birthday to our beautiful Savanna! We love you!!
